About the Text Compare
Text Compare checks whether two text blocks are exactly the same. Paste an original and a copy, and the tool tells you at once if they match, along with the character count of each.
This is an exact-match checker, not a full diff. It does not highlight which words or lines changed. A single extra space or a different line ending will make texts count as different, which is useful when you need to be sure two versions are truly identical.
How to use it
- Paste the first version into Original.
- Paste the second into Comparison.
- Read the result, which updates as you type.
When to use it
Confirm that a copied license key, token or contract clause is identical to the source.
If texts differ and you need to find where, use the character counts as a hint, then check line by line.
Differences in capital letters count as differences.
Real-world examples
Verifying a copy. Make sure a license key or token pasted into a form is identical to the original.
Contract clauses. Confirm two versions of a clause match word for word.
Finding invisible differences. A trailing space or different line ending is enough to make texts differ.
Common mistakes
Expecting highlighted changes: this tool reports a match or a difference and the lengths, not where they differ. Capital letters count as differences. Text pasted from different programs may contain different quote marks or hidden characters.
How it works
The two strings are compared directly, character by character, using strict equality. The lengths shown help you spot issues such as an extra space, because two texts that differ by one character will differ in length by one.
