About the Time Converter
The Time Converter turns a duration into seconds, minutes, hours and days at the same time. Use it for timers, project estimates, video lengths or homework.
It uses fixed lengths: 60 seconds in a minute, 3,600 in an hour and 86,400 in a day. Months and years are left out because their length varies.
How to use it
- Enter a Value.
- Choose the Input unit.
- Read the four results below.
Examples
Typical jobs for this tool include converting a video length given in seconds into minutes, turning a work estimate in hours into days for a schedule, and checking how long a countdown or cooking timer really is. Type the number once and read all four units together instead of calculating each by hand.
90 minutes is 1.5 hours or 5,400 seconds.
A 48-hour deadline is exactly 2 days.
1,000,000 seconds is about 11.57 days.
Real-world examples
Video and audio. 5,400 seconds is exactly 90 minutes.
Work estimates. 36 hours is 1.5 days of continuous time.
Timers and countdowns. Convert a period into seconds for a script or alarm.
Common mistakes
Mixing up working days with calendar days: 8 working hours is not a full 24-hour day. Treating a month as 30 days when you need precision. Reading 1.5 hours as 1 hour 5 minutes instead of 1 hour 30 minutes.
How it works
Your number is multiplied by the number of seconds in the input unit (60, 3,600 or 86,400) to get seconds. All other units are then found by dividing by those same values.
