About the Age Calculator
The Age Calculator works out how old someone is today, in whole years plus the extra months and days. It is useful for forms, eligibility checks and just for curiosity.
It compares the birth date with today's date on your device. Months are borrowed from the previous calendar month, the usual way people count age.
How to use it
- Pick your Date of birth.
- Read your age in years, plus months and days.
- Change the date to check another person.
Notes
A common use is checking whether someone meets a minimum age for a form, a competition or a membership: enter the birth date and compare the years shown with the requirement. For documents with a cut-off date, compare against that date manually, because the tool always uses today.
Future dates are rejected.
The result depends on your device's date setting, so make sure it is correct.
Legal age rules for a country may count differently; use official guidance for formal decisions.

Common mistakes
Using the wrong date format when typing; the picker avoids this. Checking an age 'as of' another date: this tool uses today. Assuming legal age is always counted this way; some cultures and laws count differently, so use official rules for formal matters.
How it works
The tool subtracts the birth date from today's date year by year, month by month and day by day. If the day difference is negative it borrows the length of the previous month, and if the month difference is negative it borrows 12 months from the years, which is the standard way to count ages.
